Catherine Guilbeault: Branding et design d'emballage

branding, packaging design

Catherine Guilbault studied graphic arts and advertising. Her talent and creativity were quickly spotted by marketing communications agencies, where she then made her mark for more than 20 years as an art director and designer. She worked on a multitude of projects for clients such as La Fédération des cégeps, Favuzzi International, Les Éditions Cardinal, Tremblant Resort Association, Air Canada Vacations, Les Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma (formerly Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québécois), Essence du Papier stores, La Commission des normes du travail “Mets tes droits au travail” (2008 Zénith Excellence Award), Société de transport de Montréal “Opus, une carte pour tous”, Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux “C’est pas illégal d’en parler,” “T’as juste 1 vie. com” and “La gang allumée,” Hydro-Québec (in-store promotion), Energy Star appliances, Audi, LU Cookies, Unilever, BGE/Consignaction (Boissons Gazeuses Environnement).

In 2008, she returned to freelancing, devoting herself to what she loves most: branding and packaging design for fine products. And her passion paid off: while some of her products climbed to the top of the sales charts, in fall 2013, she took gold at the Prix GAÏA for her Favuzzi prestige box design. In 2016, due to growing demand and the nature of the mandates, she founded Catherine Guilbault Création, surrounding herself with a team of talented collaborators including designers, photographers, strategists, graphic designers, video and web producers, copywriters, translators, editors and specialized printers. This move allowed her to adapt to the various needs of her clients. She offered her services as a consultant both on a regular basis and on a “one-stop shop” basis for large-scale mandates.

She invests most of her time in mandates close to her heart that address environmental preservation, education, food, health and well-being. Among these collaborations, to name a few, are the Commission scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys, Municipalité de Chelsea, Passion Santé, Wásábi Leadership “Leadership inspired by nature” (coaching with horses). Also part of this approach are Annie Langlois’ books Ma retraite yoga à la maison and Voyage au cœur de soi published by Éditions Cardinal, Valentine Thomas’s book Récits et recettes d’une aventurière des mers, Dr. Sophie Maffolini’s book L’anxiété sans complexe from the same publisher, and the creation of an olive oil tasting guide in collaboration with Michel Favuzzi, founder of Favuzzi International and olive oil sommelier, Huiles d’olive – le guide, comment reconnaître et déguster une huile de qualité.

In 2022, her work was recognized once again. Author Manon Lapierre’s book En feu! won gold at the Taste Canada Awards. The same book received the Renaud Bray Coup de Cœur Award. Dr. Sophie Maffolini’s L’anxiété sans complexe and Annie Langlois’ Ma retraite yoga à la maison also earned Coup de Cœur awards in 2017 and 2020.

In 2022, she joined the full-time team at Favuzzi International, a leading Canadian distributor of fine food products and owner of the private Famiglia Favuzzi label. As Artistic Director, she oversees the development and promotion of the brand and the marketing of products represented by Favuzzi Distribution.

She has recently returned to her consulting role, once again surrounded by her team of talented collaborators. Making a real difference and putting creation and marketing at the service of the food, education, health and environmental sectors remain anchored at the heart of her values.
